UPDATE - FEBRUARY 2017

Just to say a BIG thank you to all of those who have contributed towards us reaching our £800 target for support carers (see below).

We are pleased to announce that we have now reached this target and a formal presentation of the cheque to Livewell took place on 23 February.   See the Livewell page for more details and photographs.

This is a truly great achievement! so thanks again to all those contributed.

PLEASE HELP US!

Steps for the Future are currently trying to raise the sum of £800 !  We have been offered the opportunity to support carers, who accompany their cared for, to participate in our wonderful Health and Wellbeing club  (which runs on Thursday morning's between 10am and 12 noon at Queen's Leisure Centre, Derby).

The Management at the Centre will issue every carer (up to a maximum of 10) with a free membership which will enable them to access the facilities at the Leisure Centre and at the Derby Arena at all times.  All they have to do is have an induction into the Livewell scheme.  This promotion will cost £800 and Steps for the Future have agreed to raise this through local donations.

Steps for the Future Health and Wellbeing club is specifically aimed at anyone who would rather not go to mainstream health  clubs and is led by Steps for the Future students  who have completed a 6 month pilot, supported by a team of facilitators and Livewell Management.  The club is open to anyone who would like to learn more about a healthy lifestyle through quizzes, games and demonstrations held at an easy pace and there is always a full 30 minute "fitness to music" session in the fitness studio.

If we can raise this money, Steps for the Future will not have to pay for the hire of the room and the studio and the carers are rewarded with membership.  Win/Win all round!

Our thanks to Dementia Support Services (Making Space), Derby County Football Club and NCS who have already committed to help us raise this money, but we still need all the help we can get, so if you can help in any way, please contact us (see left or the "Contact us" page for details).  Many thanks.
