Steps for the Future and Livewell working in partnership...

Please note that the Health and Wellbeing sessions, organised by Steps and Livewell, have now resumed at Queens Leisure Centre at the new time of 10:00 - 12:00 each Thursday morning (see flyer and details below for further information).

These sessions are ideal for anyone who doesn't already participate in mainstream Health and Wellbeing classes.

Steps Health and Wellbeing workshops offer the chance for dancing, singing, learning about healthy eating and of course, socialising.  See some pictures below of a session held in April 2017 (our thanks to Alex Sabey for the photographs below).

In February 2017, Steps for the future, held a presentation ceremony at Queens Leisure Centre of a cheque for £800 to Livewell to enable 10 Carers to have a one year pass to attend, Derby Arena gym, Springwood Leisure Centre as well as Queens Leisure Centre. This money was raised with lots of donations (from the Demetia Society, NCS, Derby County FC, Boots the Chemist and others. Below are a selection of photographs from the event (our thanks to Alex Sabey for the photographs).

Steps for the Future in partnership with Livewell, have begun Health and Wellbeing workshops, to teach people with differences about healthy eating and exercise.  Students and volunteers from Steps for the Future and Livewell, run the classes every Thursday morning 10:00 to 12:00, starting Thursday 13th October at Queens Leisure Centre (cost £7.50 per session).  The aim is to make adults with differences more aware of what they are eating and drinking, and what effects this could have on their health.  There are also aerobic exercises for everybody to take part in.  They are led by professional instructors, who are qualified to teach aerobics and fitness to music, to students with disabilities.

You don't have to be a current student of Steps for the Future to take part in the Health and Wellbeing workshops, so if you would like to join us we would love to have you there.
