Volunteer:

Get Involved

Whether you are an individual looking for a unique and valuable experience, a member of the public hoping to make a difference, or a business wanting to take an active role in the community, Steps For The Future welcomes your support.

With our long-term goal of expanding opportunities in the Arts by providing classes in The Performing Arts to people with differences across the Derbyshire region and potentially nation-wide, Steps For The Future are currently seeking volunteers.

Volunteers

Are you inspired by the Arts and passionate about music and dance?  Are you looking for a chance to develop your skills and add to your CV?  By sharing your time and expertise, you can facilitate the creativity of the students and make a real and tangible difference to their lives.

We have many opportunities within our classes including classroom support, performance support and fundraising etc. This entails supporting our students to achieve their goals and ambitions in a safe and secure environment, ensuring our students get the best they can within the classes. We offer all our volunteers training within the role including person centred, safeguarding, autism and Asperger’s, dementia and Makaton. If you are interested in this role or would like to know more please get in touch.

We work closely with Derby College, offering work experience for students who are wanting to broaden their transferable skills  and giving them the opportunity to increase their knowledge about adults with disabilities.

"I applied to volunteer at the Steps For The Future Health & Wellbeing group as I wanted build confidence, learn new things and add to my CV. I had also just joined the Active Ewe scheme and thought that it would compliment each other. I never thought that I would progress to co-facilitating the group.

I spent over a year there and in that time took part in various training sessions, and had opportunities to try different things, such as writing a case study on one of the members of the group, facilitating the 'movement to music' part of the session, sorting the money and paperwork out for the group, redesigning the Health & Wellbeing club webpage and adding updates with photos from the group onto the club's Facebook Page.

It was lovely, friendly group and I have loved my time volunteering there. The class leaders and other volunteers are very helpful."

"I got the job! I can't thank you and Steps For The Future enough for helping me into my chosen career. I will try to remain a volunteer for as long as I can. Keep me informed as to when you have shows or events and I will do my best to help out."
